Update on if Coumadin and Ivermectin can be taken together

During my recent covid-19 illness I took myself off Coumadin since both medications supposedly utilize the same receptors. In addition the vendor (Germproof) who sold me the Ivermectin strictly warns that they should not be taken together.

I was able to discuss the issue with my cardiologist, who thankfully is very open minded. Since I check my INR as often as necessary to be able to stay in the therapeutic range, he told me I could just check the level every 3 days and monitor it more closely if I ever have to take Ivermectin again while on Coumadin. This gave me some peace of mind.

I do not know how often the therapeutic effect of Eliquis is monitored and if it even uses the same receptors as Ivermectin.

I wonder if anyone else has a comment about this… would be interested in reading it.

From Dr. Kory:

“Yes, if on Coumadin and ivermectin, INR should be closely monitored. There is no issue with Eliquis, my practice has hundreds of patients on both. We do not monitor eliquis activity as it is unnecessary, ands its clinical impacts are consistently observed when on both, we have not seen a concern with safety signals. but if concerned with eliquis activity, can send an anti Factor Xa level”
