One Question You Wish You Had Asked Your Doctor?

This was posted as a question in this week’s webinar, and we had some great questions put forward including:

:backhand_index_pointing_right:Why does a 17-year-old male need an HPV shot?

:backhand_index_pointing_right:Why do I need the flu, shingles and hepatitis shot?

:backhand_index_pointing_right:Where do you get your information about the shots from?

And then doctor Cole gave us a great question to ask our doctors:

Ask your doctor to read the actual inert that comes with the vaccine, specifically to focus on section 13.1, - this product has not been tested for carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or fertility issues. Every vaccine comes with this information, and Dr. Cole thinks this will shock most doctors.

So over to you, what question do you wish you had asked, have you asked or will you ask on your next visit?

Oh, and do watch the webinar, it was just brilliant!:slightly_smiling_face:

Arzte werden von der Industrie indoktriniert und lesen selten Beipackzettel. In Deutschland gibts fürs Impfen Geld – für Impfberatung ohne Impfung gibts kein Geld.

Do we have a translator on the Forum? To translate the previous member’s ( and others’ in the future) comment. Thank you!

Hi @lynner4u I will use ai to that right now.

This is the post in English “Doctors are indoctrinated by the industry and rarely read package inserts. In Germany, there’s money for giving vaccines—but no money for vaccine counseling without vaccination.”

Danke @hum07 Das scheint ein globales Problem zu sein (In English, this seems to be a global problem)

Thank you for the AI translation, I wonder if in Germany the “vaccine counseling” that happens only WITH vaccine (not without?), happens before the shot or after? Cuz it’s not helpful really, if the patient cannot really decide based on information from the doc or the insert.

Yes, the important question is: what’s it say on the insert? At 13.1, especially!

Brilliant! Thank you!

:slightly_smiling_face: Agree that’s the killer question we all need to ask.

Thank you for translating. Very interesting. I will ask my doctor about the Flu vaccine. I am considering not having one this Winter. An Australian here.

:+1:Whatever you decide if it’s a more informed decision, and it’s absolutely with your consent, there’s a world of difference. And here’s a little more info form the IMA - How To Stay Healthy During Cold and Flu Season and there’s this info too - Nasal Flu Vaccine: Dr. Joseph Varon on the Latest FDA Approvals.

Via Perplexity - Vaccination consultations often do not take place in Germany. People are simply vaccinated. Unlike surgeries or chemotherapy for cancer, nothing needs to be signed.

According to the Standing Committee on Vaccination at the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Germany, only acute illnesses (fever > 38.5°C), adverse drug reactions related to the vaccination, and allergies to components of the vaccine are contraindications. Vaccination against measles (only available as MMR) is mandatory.
