I think this new layout does make sense. My only concern is that the discussion link is a bit subtle and will require training our users. Anyway to split screen a scrolling group on the top with the forum on the bottom? Or put a big button “Go To Discussions”?
We can make Discussions the default as well. Then Feed as #2 item to go over what else you may have missed.
