Merck faces intense scrutiny as its first jury trial over the Gardasil vaccine begins, with claims it misled the public on safety and effectiveness.
The case revolves around claims that Merck overstated the benefits of the vaccine while downplaying its risks, leaving consumers and doctors in the dark. The HPV vaccine, which prevents cervical and other cancers, made Merck billions in 2023 alone—but now, it’s facing a major legal challenge.
Jurors will decide if Merck withheld side-effect reports from regulators and launched misleading marketing campaigns that misrepresented the vaccine’s true risks.
Merck insists its vaccine is safe, and has strong scientific backing.
But this trial could change everything for the future of vaccine safety and corporate responsibility, and reshape the way even more people won’t trust Pharma.
Would love to hear what you think or know about this case.
If the allegations are proven, Pharma must be held accountable.

I am very encouraged that this is happening, especially with this vaccine. I just listened to a discussion on CHD with Mary Holland J.D. about her coauthored book, “HPV Vaccine on Trial”. I wish I had had this book when I had stopped recommending this vaccine in my Pediatric Practice because I had real concerns about the side effects in my teenage patients. I was called before my supervisors and told that I had to stick to the ‘schedule’ despite my concerns. In my previous practice, for some reason, we had changed the schedule for HPV to every year at age 12, 13 and 14 well check ups. I never knew why the Pediatrician did this. Then the amount of recommended vaccines dropped to 2 for some unknown reason. I sincerely hope that the truth comes out.
Horrible product. Many young Millennial and Gen Z women have been damaged by it (POTS, anxiety, depression, premature ovarian failure) and likely the young men as well. It is too late for them, but, perhaps, we will be able to protect the Gen Alphas and beyond!
