My wife is taking Ivermectin (I-Recover long-Covid protocol). We are in Canada, so there are no doctors around to assist with the protocol and questions:( I appreciate any help from the community (hopefully, those questions are allowed here). Should she take IVM with or without food? The protocol suggests taking it with the food, but the general suggestion is 30 minutes before or 2 hours after food. How are you taking it? Again, thank you in advance for your feedback!
I am taking ivermectin for cancer so not sure if the protocol is the same for long covid or not. When I frist started I took it empty stomach but when I started talking with other cancer patients they all said with food especailly with fats for better absorption. If I am not eating a meal I usually just take it with a spoonful of coconut oil.
I have mine compounded for long covid and the instructions on the pharmacy bottle say take with food.
For my patients I suggest taking it on an empty stomach unless it upsets their stomachs then take with food
Best taken on an empty stomach but can also be taken with food if it doesn’t upset your stomach. As well, take zinc with it and some quericitin. Another tip, and it worked for me - if your wife has lost her sense of taste and/or smell, chew nicorettes or use a nicorette patch. I’m in Canada - where in Canada are you? Wishing your wife well in her journey to recovery.
I take mine both ways. Doesn’t seem to matter much with me
Ivermectin is 2.5 times better absorbed when taken with fat. That was one of the ways they rigged the studies showing “it doesn’t work”. They told people in the study to “take on an empty stomach” to lessen the positive effect.
Everything I been told is to take ideally with a “fatty” meal usually at lunch. I’m a patient with Scott Marsland and Dr. Kory’s clinic.
With food, some people it can cause nausea and vomiting. Although, I’ve heard some take it without. I’m a functional nurse with REMNANT HEALTH CARE. If you need any further help, can find me there. Have helped many navigate COVID and FLCCC Alliance member since 1/2021.

Thank you very much, Wendy!

Your welcome!
She will try to take it with food trom now. Thank you!
Thank you!
We are in Niagara Falls, Ontario. I heard about nicotine patches and need to read more about them. She lost her smell and taste during the Covid and got it partially back after. Her main problems are muscle pain everywhere and polyarthritis triggered by a virus (no vaxx). It’s been a tough 6 months — she’s been taking IVM and LDN for close to 2 months with no apparent progress so far. I know the recovery is a long-term process, and I hope it will start to show an improvement with time.
TAKING IVERMECTIN WITH HIGH FAT GREATLY INCREASES ITS ABSORPTION
I checked the ivermectin “fat” link – surprise! surprise! The link now goes to the FDA and the FDA page says “Page Not Found”. Yet for now that study result is still referenced here https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2008/050742s022lbl.pdf for the record the relative referenced result for the “page not found” study is copied below
“CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Pharmacokinetics
Following oral administration of ivermectin, plasma concentrations are approximately proportional to the dose. In two studies, after single 12-mg doses of STROMECTOL in fasting healthy volunteers (representing a mean dose of 165 mcg/kg), the mean peak plasma concentrations of the major component (H 2B 1a) were 46.6 (±21.9) (range: 16.4-101.1) and 30.6 (±15.6) (range: 13.9-68.4) ng/mL, respectively, at approximately 4 hours after dosing. Ivermectin is metabolized in the liver, and ivermectin and/or its metabolites are excreted almost exclusively in the feces over an estimated 12 days, with less than 1% of the administered dose excreted in the urine. The plasma half-life of ivermectin in man is approximately 18 hours following oral administration. The safety and pharmacokinetic properties of ivermectin were further assessed in a multiple-dose clinical pharmacokinetic study involving healthy volunteers. Subjects received oral doses of 30 to 120 mg (333 to 2000 mcg/kg) ivermectin in a fasted state or 30 mg (333 to 600 mcg/kg) ivermectin following a standard high-fat (48.6 g of fat) meal. Administration of 30 mg ivermectin following a high-fat meal resulted in an approximate 2.5 fold increase in bioavailability relative to administration of 30 mg ivermectin in the fasted state.”
2 sentences to notice here
- “Subjects received oral doses of 30 to 120 mg (333 to 2000 mcg/kg) ivermectin in a fasted state”
note the 120 mg dose given to test subjects
- “or 30 mg (333 to 600 mcg/kg) ivermectin following a standard high-fat (48.6 g of fat) meal. Administration of 30 mg ivermectin following a high-fat meal resulted in an approximate 2.5 fold increase in bioavailability relative to administration of 30 mg ivermectin in the fasted state.”
Thank you! My best wishes for fast and complete recovery for you ![]()
Thank you for the info!
The FDA link says, “STROMECTOL should be taken on an empty stomach with water. (See CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY, Pharmacokinetics.)” I guess it’s for “anti-parasite” use?
I’m sorry to hear that your wife is still struggling. It took me about a year to get back to somewhat “normal”. My hair was falling out as well. For that, B5 (pantothenic acid), keratin, biotin, collagen, silica - whatever works - and rub scalp with Rosemary oil. Other essential oils work as well. It just takes time and patience but she will improve. Wishing you well.
