I am a provider in rural Montana - I called in an ivermectin prescription to a Washington compounding pharmacy (licensed in Montana, also). The pharmacy called client for payment and mailed medication directly to client. There was no paper trail of the prescription from the prescribing end as I called it in and did not openly put it in my EHR system. This client had decided not to report this medication to a clinic that she visits on an infrequent basis. Today, she had to present to this clinic for an unrelated reason, and the clinic informed her of her ivermectin prescription from this WA based compounding pharmacy - so it was obviously in her medical record. They had the pharmacy name and location , dosage and number of pills, and date filled, but couldn’t tell her who the prescriber was.
I called the pharmacy and the owner/pharmacist stated that his computer system was completely internal, that they do not bill insurances, nor do they have links to outside facilities which would have access to client information.
Has anyone else seen this kind of thing happen when prescribing ivermectin. Do you know what’s happening here? And is there any way to prevent it?
I appreciate any and all feedback as we are definitely in a New World nowadays. Thank you.
