This is from Michael Ferres, a GP in Australia. With regard to the treatment of long covid/long vax I understand the value of using ivermectin to bind spike protein, which may be continually produced and released into the circulation, and of using other agents to counter-act micro-clotting, auto-immune phenomena, respiratory disturbance and CNS disturbance. I am unclear, however (and are there any hard guidelines about it?) about how long ivermectin should be continued. There are suggestions that it be used for 2 -4 weeks or until symptoms settle. Presumably symptoms may return and presumably the spike is still being made. Can anyone advise about this?
Hi Michael. I’ve heard from the various providers I follow who treat long covid/vax patients that ivermectin should be continued (and any other therapies that may be working) for at least 2-3 months after the patient feels they are close to their baseline health. Then wean off slowly - 1 therapy at a time. So if they have been taking ivermectin daily maybe wean to every other day for 3-4 weeks then maybe reduce dosage every other day for another 3-4 weeks. It’s a slow process but the primary goal would be to see if the patient gets worse without the therapy or if they are able to maintain. I’m not a doctor (an RN) but I saw no one had responded to your post so I thought I would share what I have learned from covid literate doctors.
