I have a patient with breast cancer (mid 30’s, stage 3–spread to supraclavicular LN and axillary LN, unvaxxed but worked in ER throughout pandemic) who recently reach out to me with concerns about Ivermectin and mebendazole (had been using before her concern developped). I would love to get input from other prescribers to get a sense of if others are experiencing issues with these meds when used for cancer. Her concerns were 2 fold:
-
She saw a post in one of her support groups of a patient that stated the IVM + Mebendazole combo initially knocked her cancer back/away, but then came roaring back. Has anyone seen this in clinical practice?
-
She is concerned about elevated LFTs with IVM + Mebendazole (she has not had, but she is on other medications by her oncologist that can cause). Has anyone seen this?
I’ve prescribed a fair amount of ivermectin (for COVID and Long COVID) and not seen, but I have not prescribed mebendazole. She is a healthcare professional too (P.A.) and family friend–I’m a functional medicine physician and helping her here and there, but she has an oncologist and had an integrative oncologist, but recently had to transfer (due to health issues in her doctor) and is in between providers at this time so I’m trying to help where I can.
Thanks!
