Hello fellow optimal health seekers! I recently listened to a podcast with Dr John Campbell (UK based educator) who was interviewing a highly respected research physician (Professor Angus Dalgleish) and they mentioned iodine supplementation using Lugol’s iodine. But they didn’t mention a safe dose for the average person to take. I’d like to start using it and have a product (Bioceuticals Iodine Forte) which contains 376 micrograms of potassium iodide equivalent to iodine 288 micrograms and potassium 88 micrograms per spray. As I cannot ask my primary care physician (they have no knowledge of anything nutritionally supplementary sadly) and I cannot find anything on the internet, I am hoping someone out there uses it and can let me know.
I assume that potassium iodide is water soluble and therefore will not accumulate but I don’t want to overdose!
You referenced a video about povidone iodine. But the OP was about oral supplementation with Lugol’s solution. I believe povidone is for nasal and topical use and should not be ingested.
Dr. Brownstein is famous for his advocacy of supplementation with Logol’s iodine. There are many interviews with him on YouTube.
I’m personally supplementing 50mg/day Lugol’s solution and I’m thrilled that I’m approaching resolution of my hypothyroidism. Though it took me a year to get up to that dose.
