🇨🇦 “Free” but Failing?

What Canada’s Health System Isn’t Telling Us

Wait-times stretching past safe limits, family-doctor deserts, and therapy choices nixed by provincial formularies: Canada’s once-envied system is creaking.

At the 2025 WeUNIFY Conference in Calgary, three IMA physicians, Dr. Joseph Varon, Dr. Kristina Carman, and Dr. Paul Marik spelled out why:

  • Centralised gatekeeping blocks repurposed or integrative treatments that cost pennies.
  • One-size-fits-all guidelines leave long-COVID, Lyme, and vaccine-injured patients with nowhere to turn.
  • Political capture of licensing bodies means doctors risk discipline for personalised care.

(I’ve dropped the full 40-min panel video in the first comment.)

I wonder if integrative clinics stand a chance in Canada, or will innovators keep bailing to the U.S. and Mexico?
