A week ago, my colleagues and I were discussing the use of electrolytes, what brands they loved and why.
Water alone might not be enough—especially if you’re missing key electrolytes. What’s your go-to for staying balanced: coconut water, mineral drops, DIY mixes?
Here in Texas, a couple hours of yard work can wipe me out - I’ve lost 2 pounds easily mowing the yard (just in water loss). So, I drink my homemade electrolyte - measurements are approximate:
2 cup water
1 tsp No Salt (potassium)
1 tsp Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1 tsp pink Himalayan salt
heaping tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
I mix 1 cup of the above with water and ice in a big cup (like a Tervis) - so I get 2 servings with the above mixture.
It makes a big difference on how I feel after the yard work!!
Since the tap water was fluoridated a few years ago, I drink filtered tap water using a Ceramic water filter candle made in Britain and, coconut water which costs about $4. a litre. I was reading recently that of all the filter jugs, Brita was the only filter to remove aluminium from water.
I have been using alot of products from Isagenix over the past 18 years and their hydration powder is the best! It’s called Hydrate + and contains no sugar (so zero calories!) and also contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to support skin health. I love it and since I live in Australia where you can sweat a good deal when exercising, I always feel energised after drinking it!
