If you get a chance, watch Dr. Joseph Varon’s speech, The Great Medical Awakening: From Captured Science to Independent Medicine, delivered at Children’s Health Defense’s Moment of Truth conference last month.
It looks back at the origins of the IMA but more importantly the evolution of honest medicine, what it means and where it’s headed.
A profile of what it takes to be an honest broker for a medical professional. This is a partnership between the patient and the doctor in the management of homeostasis. It is a journey to promote wellness in conflict with the circumstance of sickness. IMA and its alliance of professional practitioners is focused on a future of honest medicine where trust in the science actually means something. We can all be part of the solution by sharing their message and adding our support wherever we can.
I wholeheartedly concur. Real healing is achievable when patients and physicians collaborate honestly at the center. It gives me great optimism for the future of medicine to see organizations like IMA advocate for that kind of integrity.
Indeed, healing must be a collaborate process. What I would add is that medical practitioners must be open to hearing, not only critical questions or information about the patient, but also to being open to ideas that may not be known to the doctor. I find it critical to me that any practitioner I see is open to new information and is at least curious about it as well as learning. When practitioners are too comfortable in their practice it can lead to an arrogance that may interfere with the healing.
@tamarque “When practitioners are too comfortable in their practice.” Exactly. And those that are currently just don’t acknowledge it to themselves about themselves. That’s why IMA is here, slowly, slowly but quietly and determinedly we’ll hopefully bring back curiosity and hearing. Small, but very important steps, all the time.
And the energizing thing is our growing Senior Fellows group, and the Referral Network, all great steps forward.
