Curing Heart Disease and Artheriosclerosis

I am wondering if there is any information on curing heart disease and artheriosclerosis. I have heard from some that supplements like nattokinase is promising (12,000fu daily is the number I’ve heard) in reducing plaque in arteries.

If there are other supplements that help, I would like to find them. It was suggested in the past by a health practitioner that the following ‘cocktail’ of drugs help reverse artheriosclerosis:

Vitamin D

Vitamin C

Vitamin K2 - MK4

Vitamin K2 - MK7

Selenium

Copper Glycinate

all the above along with a Keto diet.

Additionally, Dr. Hyman stated on a Tucker Carlson interview that you could reverse heart disease with diet, although he was not specific as to what diet.

If there is any good research on this, please post it.

Thank you.

Yes you can. You can look up Dr. Joel Kahn at Kahnlongevitycenter.com. He is a cardiologist and believes in a plant based diet. He has alot of good podcasts etc. Or if you are a meat eater Dr. Jack Wolfson of naturalheartdoctor.com is a good choice. He wrote a good book, simple to understand, called “The Paleo Cardiologist”. You can get lots of info from them. Also you might look into these 2 supplements. Standard Process Cardio-Plus and Allegany Nutrition Cardio Support but of course check with a good cardiologist first.

An amazing book that Dr. Keith Berkowitz clued me into is “Dr. Atkins’ Vita-Nutrient Solution: Nature’s Answer to Drugs”

You can find answers to many things in that book. (Note: Dr. Atkins was a Cardiologist)

Thanks to all who are writing on this subject.

It may also be worthwhile to look into Dr. William Davis’s books- the Wheat Bellys, and Super Gut. He is a cardiologist who had a blog, The Heart Scan Blog, back in +/- 2011. He posted a blog on January 24, 2011: “The five most powerful heart disease prevention strategies”. These were: 1) Eliminate wheat from the diet. 2) Achieve a desirable 25-hydroxy vitamin D level. 3) Supplement omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil. 4) Normalize thyroid function. 5) Make exercise fun.

I’m sorry that I do not have time to look for my print-outs of blogs where he and his commenters discussed taking Niacin as an ally against arteriosclerosis. Anyone considering using large doses of Niacin will want to- and must- research its use in this regard.

There are simple qi gong exercises, acupressure, and massages which some may find useful. William Lee’s books are short and simple.

Hawthorn berries have been called “food for the heart” in herbal medicine. Like everything else in all the recommendations that I have listed above, anyone considering any of these for personal practice/use MUST consult their health authorities before implementation. That is my disclaimer: Safety first !

Best wishes to all in our efforts to optimize our health. May you find the approach that works for you.

My patients who have healed their issues have used The Carnivore Diet and Pectasol

You should look up Plaquex. There are books on it.

Vitamin D and K2 supplementation reduce coronary artery disease in high-risk patients

A new randomized controlled trial published in JACC Advances found that supplementing with vitamins D and K2 may help prevent coronary artery disease. The researchers gave 304 men (average age 71) either a combination of vitamin K2 (720 mcg) and vitamin D (25 mcg) or placebo for two years. While there was no significant effect in the overall group, participants with high baseline coronary artery calcium scores (over 400) taking the vitamins had markedly less progression of calcification compared to placebo. Even more striking was the safety data—those taking the supplements had 70% fewer adverse cardiovascular events. This builds on previous research showing vitamin K2’s role in activating matrix Gla protein, which helps prevent calcium from depositing in blood vessels.

I just ordered this book. Thank you.

This is the first time I’ve heard of Pectasol. I will research that.

As to your patients who have healed their issues, might I ask how those issues were measured? In mine, a heart calcium scan with a score of 990 back in 2018 is what alerted me.

The Toxic Nutrient Triad
A little: good. Just a little more: bad

****Commentary by Thomas E. Levy, MD, JD

Most clinicians are familiar with the concept that when a little is good, more is often better, but a lot is still reliably toxic.

This results in the mindset of there being little chance of doing harm with supplementing a “little,” especially when the supplements involved are well-known and relatively popular supplements, widely regarded as being beneficial without question. In the case of calcium, iron, and copper the downside of minimal supplementation could not be more clear-cut.

All three of these agents are essential for health, especially inside the cells.

Nevertheless, once a relatively low daily intake of these nutrients is exceeded only minimally, toxicity rapidly ensues, with the highest intakes resulting in the greatest toxicity.
